Capsule Wardrobe Competition

There is currently another competition running on the work Yammer site on the Stylist Journal page in which we have to create a capsule wardrobe of up to 30 pieces that can be used for a holiday/month/season etc. this is my entry:

Here's my entry for the Summer Capsule wardrobe competition. I decided on 30 items and styled them for the month of June as there's events like Glastonbury, Summer weddings, holidays and BBQs. The main colour of the capsule is white to create a clean and simple base to the outfits which can be easily styled up or down with the added pops of colour of blue, red and yellow. I also used a mixture of essential basic items (jeans, tshirts, vests) and on trend fashion items (dungarees, trench coat, kimonos) to really make the capsule interchangeable. I hope you like it 😊 ...

Festival:
• With Glastonbury in June I wanted to create 3 outfits that would have you covered for the festivals weekend
• The staples for every festival this season are the kimono and the high waist short so I had to include the Limited versions in the capsule
• The dungaree and playsuit also create that fun, carefree attitude that fits right in with festival fashion
• The crochet Limited top plays on the cool seventies trend and really adds to the boho vibe along with the straw hat

Summer Weddings
• Wedding season is upon us and I'm sure everyone has at least one to go to this year so I wanted to create two looks, one with the versatile jumpsuit and one with the lace shift dress
• I used the floral belt with the dress to add a bit of shape to the waist and also add a pop of pattern play
• I included the most on trend coat this season, the loose trench, to the mix as we all know the English weather can be unpredictable and it provides a high fashion cover up
• The infamous mule shoe is also a must have for Summer so I had to use it in the capsule as it works with so many outfits, especially formal ones.
• The use of the blues also taps into the true blue trend which is so hot for Summer.

Four day city break
• For an impromptu break away you need a wardrobe that can provide looks that are easily switchable with each other
• I included simple classic pieces that can be mixed and matched to create effortless looks that ooze Parisian chic
• Chic separates like the drape front blouse and Best of British White skirt and stripe top
• The all white trend is a major fashion player for Summer so I had to play in that and create a look that is fresh and pure
• For the third outfit you could have the shirt open and tied up over the vest to create that 'I just threw this together' look
• Also remove the tie belt from the jumpsuit and add the light blue belt instead to create the blue on blue look

Garden Party
• Think sophisticated get together or just a relaxing BBQ, garden parties are so en vogue when the sum comes out
• Be prepared for whatever the occasion with a smart on trend all white outfit or a more relaxed kimono and skinny jean combo and by adding a tan sandal you instantly make an outfit look like a classic
• Look stylish while feeling comfortable for one of this season most popular events.

Casual weekends
• Shopping, visiting galleries or just staying at home, you want to look your best and be comfortable
• The double denim look is so wrong it's right and a big trend right now and the easiest way to wear it is the jean and jacket combo. Throw on a motif tee in the middle and your good to go
• The Best of British silver brogues bring a fashion edge to whatever you pair them with and are sure to become an instant classic
• The crochet jumper, tan sandal, straw hat and high waist short combo provides that seventies chic look that's all over the catwalk

Date nights
• Take the anxiety out of date night dressing with a mixture of basics and on trend items from the capsule
• For a more casual take try the very Parisian looking stipe tee and silver brogue look
• Dinner date? The drape front blouse with the relaxed skinny and mules gives off an effortless charm
• The playsuit worn open with the vest underneath and the kimono thrown over makes a wonderful picnic in the park date look that will keep him coming back for more
